what to expect in house of the dragon season 2 finale

Fans are eagerly anticipating the House of the Dragon Season 2, set to air next week. This season is two episodes shorter than the previous one, leaving viewers curious about how much can be packed into the final episode with so many developments yet to unfold.

House of the Dragon Season 2 will feature a total of only eight episodes, down from ten in 2022. Despite the shorter season, fans are eagerly anticipating each new episode released weekly. This season has started off with a bang as the Blacks and Greens come to terms with the tragic and accidental death of Lucerys Velaryon.

Young Luc was killed by his uncle, Aemond, as they both fled Stormsend. While Aemond did not intend to kill Luc, he accidentally did so by losing control of his dragon, Vhagar. This happened when Rhaenyra’s younger brother, King Aegon Targaryen, “The Usurper,” stole her throne.

Lucerys and Aemond were in the same place to secure their respective alliances. However, Luc never made it home to Dragonstone.

In the past seven episodes, each lasting about an hour, a great deal has happened. Rhaenyra and Daemon have been separated following a marriage dispute during a crucial moment. The deaths of Meleys and Rhaenys have also had a significant impact on the storyline.

The deaths of their dragons left Rhaenyra with one fewer fire-breather, as Meleys was also among the largest and most battle-hardened. This prompted the Blacks to seek out Targaryen bastards in hopes of reclaiming dragons. In episode seven, Hugh Hammer and Ulf the White successfully claimed Vermithor and Silverwing, respectively.

Addam Hull or Addam Velaryon was also claimed by Seasmoke. Fans speculate that it was the dragon who came to him because of his relation to Laenor. He was Seasmoke’s former rider and Rhaenyra’s ex-husband.

Ulf was also seen riding Silverwing across King’s Landing, causing panic in the city. Due to this, Aemond quickly fled on Vhagar to follow them back to Dragonstone. However, Rhaenyra stood at the ready with her dragons and new dragon riders. This resulted in Aemond turning back and returning to King’s Landing.

So, here are a few things viewers can expect in the House of the Dragon Season 2 finale:

  1. Tessarion and Daeron Targaryen’s arrival
  2. Arrival of the Winter Wolves
  3. Assembling of the dragonseeds
  4. Rhaena claiming Sheepstealer
  5. Dreamfyre’s appearance
  6. Return of Otto Hightower
  7. The battle between the Velaryon and Triarchy ships
