During a critical period between the Blacks and the Greens, marked by the loss of both Rhaenys and Meleys, Rhaenyra desperately needs more dragonriders. Her son, Jacaerys, suggested that distant Targaryen relatives might be able to claim dragons.
Rhaenyra decided to test his idea by offering the position to one of her Kingsguards, Ser Steffon Darklyn. Tragically, his attempt to claim Seasmoke ended in failure and his death. After this, Seasmoke escaped the dragonpit and bonded with a new rider, Addam.
The trailer for House of the Dragon season 2, episode 7, teases a tense encounter between Rhaenyra and her dragon Syrax and Addam with Seasmoke. Tensions escalate between the two teams as Rhaenyra declares, “With these dragons, peace will be restored.”
Additionally, the trailer reveals the dowager Queen Alicent questioning her entire existence. She says, “All my life, I have endeavored to serve both my house and the realm. And somehow, none of it matters.”

HOTD season 2, episode 7 reveals significant developments in the series’ plot as the last episode of the season. Additionally, the frequent mentions of Rhaenyra’s youngest brother, Daeron, hint at his upcoming introduction.
