House of the Dragon fans eagerly anticipate HOTD Season 2 Episode 6 after yesterday’s cliffhanger.
In the final moments of the last episode, it was revealed that Rhaenyra’s team (the Blacks) needed more dragons. Her son, Jacearys Velaryon (Jace), suggested they should add unclaimed dragons to their roster.
At the start of the fifth episode, Ser Criston Cole parades the head of Meleys, the dragon, through King’s Landing. The deaths of Meleys and Rhaenys are a huge hit to the Blacks, as Meleys was their largest dragon. However, Jace had the idea to claiming unclaimed dragons like Vermithor, who reside at Dragonstone.

It’s well-known among Game of Thrones fans that only Targaryens can ride dragons, as Rhaenyra reminded her son. However, the young Velaryon discovered a loophole. Many Targaryens have married into other families, and despite having little Targaryen blood, they can still ride these powerful dragons.
Another notable unclaimed species in the series is Silverwing, the dragon once ridden by Alyssane Targaryen. The bond between dragons and Targaryens is so strong that, when their rider dies, dragons often struggle to accept a new one.
Over the last few episodes, fans have been seeing more of Hugh Hammer, a blacksmith in King’s Landing with an ill daughter. Expect to see more of him in future episodes, like HOTD season 2 episode 6, where his significance to the story will be unveiled.
In the previous episode, Jace is frantic and determined to fight for his mother’s claim and his own right to the Iron Throne. Meanwhile, Daemon is stuck in Harrenhal, seemingly appearing to building an army to challenge the Greens (Hightowers). He believes himself to be the rightful heir to the throne, in opposition to his wife.

In the episode before HOTD season 2 episode 6, Daemon appears to be sleeping with another woman. That woman is revealed to be Alyssa Targaryen, his mother, whom he couldn’t remember. Emeline Lambert portrayed the role.
