Vice President Sara Duterte thanked President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for helping her reconcile with her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, after his arrest by the International Criminal Court (ICC). 

The former President Rodrigo Duterte, is facing charges of crimes against humanity for his controversial war on drugs. 

The father and daughter had been distant due to political disagreements, especially about Sara’s decision to run with Marcos in the 2022 elections, which went against her father’s wishes.

Sara Duterte said her father’s arrest helped them rebuild their relationship. 

She shared that, despite their past issues, they have restored their bond as father and daughter, with President Marcos playing a key role in their reconciliation.

Meanwhile, the House of Representatives’ prosecution team is 80% ready for Vice President Duterte’s impeachment trial. 

Iloilo 3rd District Representative Lorenz Defensor said the team has been holding mock trials to prepare for possible defenses and objections from Duterte’s lawyers. 

The impeachment is based on accusations of misuse of funds in the Office of the Vice President.

These events—the ICC’s case against the former president and the impeachment trial of the vice president—highlight a challenging time for the Duterte family. 

Despite this, Sara Duterte remains focused on her work while dealing with personal and political struggles.
