Prolific voice actor Peter Renaday passed away on September 8 at the age of 89. People widely recognized him as the voice of Master Splinter in the 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles TV series.

Renaday’s friend and former co-star Townsend Coleman, who voiced Michaelangelo in the same series, shared the sad news on Twitter/X.

“I’m devastated this morning to learn of the passing yesterday of our dear sensei, Peter Renaday,” Townsend stated in his post. “A Disney legend and our dear Master Splinter— rest well, my sweet friend.”

Renaday’s cause of death has not yet been determined. However, multiple sources, one of them being from his niece, Mindy Zachary, cited that law enforcement had discovered the actor during a welfare check.

Zachary also revealed that his air conditioning has been out, and his home is hot due to the current temperature at the time.

After lending his voice to the 1987 TMNT series, Renaday also voiced several other characters in films, series, and even video games.

One of these notable roles is Al-Mualim from the game Assassin’s Creed and Adam Fenix in Gears of War 3.

Adding to his voice-acting credentials include minor to major roles in Transformers, Samurai Jack, Godzilla: The Animated Series, and Animaniacs, just to name a few.

Peter Renaday, formerly named Pierre Renoudet, was born on June 9, 1935. He married Florence ‘Flo’ June Daniel, who worked as an executive secretary for 35 years in Walt Disney Studios’ music department.
