Typhoon Carina has made landfall in Manila, Philippines. It causes significant damage and continues to strengthen as it moves northward over the Philippine Sea. Known locally as Gaemi, the typhoon has resulted in major floods across parts of Luzon, prompting swift action from local governments.

According to PAGASA’s 5 AM advisory, the eye of the typhoon is packing maximum sustained winds of 155 km per hour. The typhoon’s impact and aftermath have become a trending topic on Philippine social media, with many netizens expressing their concerns and sharing stories under the hashtag #CarinaPH.

Mass continued there despite no mass goers. I decided to join Fr. Bipin to attend his Mass.”



Another user posted, “Stay safe and dry,” along with a reel showing Mandaluyong’s current state due to the typhoon.

The user shared a shocking video of the flooded intersection at Buendia Bus Station.

Major news outlets have shared the latest updates on the aftermath of Typhoon Carina. The Philippine Inquirer posted images of the flooded areas around the University of Santo Tomas in Sampaloc, Manila.

ABS-CBN News also shared some shocking posts. In one post, two citizens are seen pushing their car through waist-deep floodwaters.

The heavy rainfall and flooding caused by Typhoon Carina in the Philippines led local government units to cancel work and school classes. Additionally, the Manila International Airport Authority announced the cancellation of some domestic flights due to the inclement weather.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has announced that the national government has prepositioned around PHP 2.88 billion in aid for the affected areas.

Recent updates indicate that the typhoon will intensify as it approaches Taiwan. PAGASA estimates that Typhoon Carina will make its final landfall in southeastern China by Thursday morning or early afternoon.
