CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, PHILIPPINES — Tragedy struck in Barangay 14 in this city early this morning as a massive fire incident claimed the life of a 68-year-old resident. The victim was found at the door of the third floor of the burnt building, which was located on Tiano-Kalambaguhan street.
According to initial reports, Fire Station 1 received a call around 3:30 AM and immediately declared a third-level fire alarm, prompting Station 1 Commander SFO4 Adolfo B Tanquilan to call for an immediate response. Firefighters arrived at the scene four minutes later, but the intensity of the fire made it difficult to access the building.

The stairs connecting the second and third floors were inaccessible. Firefighters had to use a portable ladder to recover the victim’s remains. The victim’s wife was also among the two others who sustained injuries in the blaze. They were both immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The structural damage caused by the fire is around PHP 300,000, per the initial estimates. However, the final value of the damage is yet to be determined. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. – WhatALife!/Billy
