MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The Corrs return to Araneta Coliseum, Manila, for a back-to-back two-day concert in October.
PULP Live World announced the comeback and quickly received positive reactions from netizens.
“I still remember Andrea pausing for a bit when she sang Runaway as we started using our cellphone back light as improvised glow sticks,” said one netizen.
The group disbanded for over a decade as four members prioritized raising their own families. Then, in 2015, they reformed to make more music.
The last time the Irish band performed in the Philippines was on September 29 and 30, 2001, for their In The Blue Tour. This is the first time in 22 years the band would grace the country with their music.
The Irish rock-pop band, The Corrs, is composed of three sisters and their brother. Andrea is the lead vocalist; Caroline handles the drums, percussion, and piano; Sharon covers violin, keyboard, and vocals; and Jim also plays the piano, keyboard vocals, and guitar.
The quartet was formed in 1991 and enjoyed regional popularity in Ireland. In 1994, the American ambassador to the country invited the Corrs to perform at the 1994 World Cup in Boston.
They then debuted their first studio album, “Forgiven, Not Forgotten,” at Atlantic Records in America.
The well-known band has sold over 30 million albums and is popular throughout most of the world. Some of their top-performing songs are:
- Runaway – their first Gold selling record,
- Summer Sunshine – from the album Borrowed Heaven, their first single released; and
- Breathless – released in 2000 from the album In Blue
