American music sensation Taylor Swift leads the nominations for this year’s MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs). She’s earned 10 nods, with eight for her ‘Fortnight’ music video and nominations in the Best Artist of the Year and Best Pop categories.

Swift’s music video will face against Arian Grande’s ‘We Can’t Be Friends,’ Billie Eilish’s “Lunch,” Doja Cat’s “Paint the Town Red,’ Eminem’s ‘Houdini,’ and SZA’s ‘Snooze.’

Second on the nomination list is Swift’s ‘Fortnight’ collaborator, Post Malone, who has been nominated eight times alongside the female singer, plus a ninth for his country hit ‘I Had Some Help,’ which features Morgan Wallen.

To round out the Artist of the Year category, other nominees include Ariana Grande, Eminem, Bad Bunny, Sabrina Carpenter, and SZA.

Grande, Carpenter, and Eminem are tied with six nominations, while Megan Thee Stallion and SZA have five each. Followed by Blackpink’s Lisa, Olivia Rodrigo, and Teddy Swims, with four nominations each.

This year’s awards have 29 first-time nominees, including Wallen, Carpenter, Swims, Benson Boone, and Tyla. As well as rising stars like Chappell Roan, Gracie Abrams, LE SERRAFIM, RAYE, Tyler Childers, Victoria Monet, and more.

Last year, Taylor Swift took home nine VMAs, which brings her total to an impressive 23. This places her just behind Beyonce, who has won a total of 28 (two with Destiny’s Child). So far, Swift is ahead of Madonna’s record, who has 20 awards on her belt, and Lady Gaga, who has 19.

The 2024 VMAs will be held at the UBS Arena on Long Island, New York. It will air live on September 10 at 8 PM Eastern Standard Time. Fan voting will begin online on Tuesday, August 30. However, voting in the best new artist category will remain active throughout the show.
