Pop megastar Taylor Swift took home seven awards at MTV’s 2024 Music Video Awards (VMAs) on Wednesday, September 11. This brings Swift’s trophy total to 30, tying her with Beyonce for having the most lifetime honors in the VMAs 40-year history.
Taylor Swift snagged the night’s top prize, Video of the Year, for her black and white music video of ‘Fortnight’ featuring Post Malone. The song is part of her latest album, ‘The Tortured Poets Department.’
“This video seems very sad when you watch it, but it actually was the most fun video to make,” Taylor Swift said as she accepted the VMA Moon Person statuette.

Taylor also thanked her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs football player Travis Kelce. “Everything this man touches turns to happiness and fun and magic,” she said. “I want to thank him for adding that to this shoot.”
This marks Taylor Swift’s third year in a row (fifth year overall) to win in that category. She previously won for ‘Bad Blood’ (2015), ‘You Need to Calm Down’ (2019), ‘All Too Well: The Short Film’ (2022), and ‘Anti-Hero’ (2023). Thus, she is the top person for the most wins in the category and the first person to win three years running.
Aside from winning Video of the Year, Taylor Swift also won the award for best direction for ‘Fortnight.’ Thus, making it her fourth time winning in that category. She previously won for ‘The Man, ‘All Too Well: The Short Film,’ and ‘Anti-Hero.’
