Reports have been circulating that swimmer Luana Alonso was asked to leave the Olympic Village due to creating an ‘inappropriate atmosphere’ on Sunday, August 4.
The 20-year-old Paraguayan athlete was reportedly seen walking around in skimpy outfits rather than the official kit that was provided by her country’s officials. She was also spotted socializing with other athletes and was said to be distracting her teammates who were still competing.
In addition, Alonso checked into a hotel in the French capital and visited high-end boutiques and restaurants. She also posted photos of her excursion to her social media accounts. She even snuck in a visit to the Euro Disney, posing with a pair of Mickey Mouse ears in front of the Magic Kingdom castle.

Luana Alonso faced a challenging start at the 2024 Paris Olympics, as she was unable to advance from her heat in the women’s 100m butterfly semifinals on July 27. Finishing sixth with a time of 1:03.09, she unfortunately fell short of her previous record of 1:00.37 set during her heat at the Tokyo Olympics three years prior.
In response to her behavior, the Paraguayan Olympic chief Larissa Schaerer released a statement. “Her presence is creating an inappropriate atmosphere within Team Paraguay. We thank her for proceeding as instructed, as it was of her own free will that she did not spend the night in the Athletes’ Village,” the chief said.
Luana Alonso hasn’t revealed any information regrading the the incident, but her Instagram shows that the athlete has since returned to the United States, where she is studying at a university in dallas, Texas.
