Suspects Arrested For Canceled Taylor Swift Vienna Concert

Austrian authorities detained suspects concerning threats to Taylor Swift’s Vienna concert. The pop star’s concert was canceled at the last minute due to safety threats. Since then, Austrian investigators have found evidence against suspects.

Authorities caught a 19-year-old planning a suicide attack at Taylor Swift’s concert in Vienna. He is reportedly an Islamic State sympathizer and planned to kill a lot of people during Taylor’s concert.

Reports say that authorities now have two individuals detained. Additionally, the 19-year-old confessed to his plans. Domestic intelligence agency (DSN) head Omar Haijawi-Pirchner says he “intended to carry out an attack using explosives and knives.”



He adds, “His aim was to kill himself and a lare number of people during the concert… either today or tomorrow.” the concerts in Vienna, Austria, were supposed to run from Thursday to Saturday.

Frankz Ruf, Austria’s general director for public security, shared that they found chemical substances at the 19-year-old’s home. Moreover, authorities also found technical devices that showed ‘concrete preparatory actions.

An Austrian newspaper, The Kurier, shares that the suspect allegedly got the supplies from his former job. He used to work at a metal processing company also in Ternitz. He also reportedly began the process of making the bomb.



Furthermore, the newspaper says that his plans involved him driving a car through the crowd outside the stadium. The detainee also thought about using machetes and knives to carry out his attack.

The other detainee is a 17-year-old boy. An agency employed him to provide services at Taylor Swift’s Vienna concert. He had a shift scheduled at the Ernst Happel Stadium event venue.

Unlike the older suspect, the younger one has not yet spoken to authorities. Organizers canceled Taylor Swift’s concert in Vienna after authorities raised concerns. Approximately 65,000 bought tickets to each show. 



Organizers are now more cautious about fans’ safety. Just recently, an incident at a Taylor Swift dance class in Europe left three girls dead and five others injured.

Currently, Taylor Swift’s Vienna concert is still on hold as authorities sort this out.
