On April 22, 2025, the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) officially stripped Suchata Chuangsri of her title after she joined another pageant mid-reign.
The decision came shortly after Chuangsri was crowned Miss World Thailand 2025, a move MUO stated violated her contractual obligations.
According to the MUO, joining another global pageant before finishing her term breached the exclusive commitment required of Miss Universe titleholders.
MUO confirmed that TPN permitted Chuangsri’s transition to another pageant without seeking the organization’s approval, further breaching established protocols for national directors.
“Being a Miss Universe Queen is not only an honor but also a responsibility,” MUO said in a statement.
Highlighting the importance of respecting contracts and fulfilling the official duties that come with the crown.
Chuangsri represented Thailand at the Miss Universe 2024 pageant in Mexico.
Earning international title and securing the third runner-up position.
Despite the backlash, MUO emphasized the necessity of maintaining the integrity of the brand and announced new measures to prevent similar cases in the future.
Starting May 1, 2025, national directors will be required to obtain MUO approval before allowing any titleholder to participate in another pageant during her reign.
Chuangsri will now continue her pageant journey under the Miss World Thailand banner and is set to represent her country at Miss World 2025 in India.
MUO ended by reaffirming its commitment to high standards and making sure all titleholders stay fully dedicated to their roles until the end of their reign.
Suchata Chuangsri joined and won the Miss World Thailand 2025 competition, which made her the official representative for Thailand at the Miss World 2025 pageant. This move, however, led to her being stripped of her Miss Universe 2024 third runner-up title, as she participated in another pageant before completing her reign.
Suchata Chuangsri will still compete, as she is set to represent Thailand in the Miss World 2025 competition in India. Despite the loss of her Miss Universe title, she remains a contender for the global crown in the Miss World pageant.
As of now, the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) has not announced any replacement for the third runner-up title. The organization has yet to make a decision on whether they will officially designate a new third runner-up for the 2024 competition.
