Despite looking forward to having children someday, Hollywood actress, Selena Gomez, reveals she won’t experience pregnancy because it could pose health risks to her and the fetus due to her illness. She opens up about her plans for future motherhood in an interview with Vanity Fair.
“I haven’t ever said this…but I unfortunately can’t carry my own children,” Gomez said. “I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve for a while…”
Doctors diagnosed the actress-singer with lupus in 2015, and she has openly shared her experience. Doctors diagnosed her with anxiety and depression a year later. In 2017, she underwent a kidney transplant due to lupus.

She also revealed that doctors diagnosed her with bipolar disorder in April 2020 during an episode of Miley Cyrus’ Instagram Live Show, ‘Bright Minded.’
In the interview, Selena Gomez also shared that she has considered various family-building options.
“I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me. It made me really thankful for the other outlets for people who are dying to be moms. I’m one of those people,” she said.

“I’m excited for what that journey will look like, but it’ll look a little different. At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’ll be mine. “It’s not necessarily the way I envisioned [becoming a parent]. … I thought it would happen the way it happens for everyone.”
Moreover, Selena Gomez talked about her boyfriend, Benny Blanco – who she confirmed their relationship in December 2023.
“I’ve never been loved this way…He’s just been a light. A complete light in my life. He’s my best friend. I love telling him everything,” she said.
