SB19 Shares How They’re Stronger Now Than Before

Kings of P-pop, SB19, offers fans a peek into their Pagtatag off-cam moments in the latest episode of their Atin Atin Lang podcast. Here, they talked about how they came up with the concept of their viral EP and what happened between the latest album and Pagsibol.

The newest episode appears to provide additional insights into the SB19 Pagtatag Documentary. In the film, the group and their team discuss the success and challenges of that specific SB19 era.

The boyband group even mentioned “Ligaya” by SB19. They even pointed out that they don’t sing it as much. However, it’s a Christmas track, which is why it has to be performed in season.

They shared that their tour dates were already set, and they had not finalized the tracks for the EP yet. This resulted in them rushing to catch up with their deadlines. Justin, the group’s youngest member and creative director, even said, “Naalala ko noong, speaking of ‘yung nag-viral  ‘yung ‘Gento.’ Naalala ko ko noong pinapagawa mo ‘yung choreo kang kuya Jay. Sabi mo na something na pang TikTok talaga or maalala.”

The group agreed on “Gento’s” success and how the song was only out for a month before breaking records.

Justin also asked his co-members about what makes them “matatag” or stronger now, based on recent events.

The group’s leader, Pablo, answered, “Ang problema na natin ngayon, ‘yung dami ng ginagawa natin. Dati, naghahanap tayo ng gagawin. Diba? So, ibig sabihin, dati hindi pa tayo inuulan ng challenges. Pero ngayon, punong-puno na tayo ng challenges.”

“‘Yung internal ah, kasi yung external marami tayong challenges, eh. Maraming nang-aasar, maraming ano– maraming batikos. Pero ngayon, paano mo– ‘yung health mo, ‘yung ano mo. Lahat sunod-sunod, sabay-sabay.” Pablo continued.

This is true since the P-Pop Kings truly have a packed schedule. Recently, they performed with the Nation’s Girl Group BINI for Billboard Korea. In addition, there is an upcoming SB19 Dunkin Donuts concert in October.

Despite their hectic schedules, Pablo says everything they do is worth it because it’s their passion. The leader also says his career is very fulfilling because of their listeners’ responses to their songs.

“Masasabi mong matatag kana pag nag rereminisce kana sa mga nakaraan.” Pablo added.

Josh also added, “Sa hirap ng pinagdaanan natin as a group, and as an individual. ‘Yung parang ‘yung kumbaga nakikita mo ‘yung mga challenges ngayon. Tulad ng ‘Anong kakainin natin o paano pagkakasyahin ‘yung schedule?’ Pero pag-inisip mo before na, meron kang schedule nga. Merong kang, sabihin nating twelve hours na training pero hindi mo alam ano ‘yung nangyayari sa ginagawa mo.”

“‘Yun ‘yung nakakademotivate. Kasi trabaho ka ng trabaho pero walang output. Unlike ngayon parang at least may nakikita kang– natatrack mo talaga. Na uy, parang may pinatutunguhan ‘yung paghihirap namin. So better na may gentong challenges kesa before.”

Furthermore, Justin pointed out that their glow-up came from humble beginnings. The group shared how they had to pay for their costumes with barely any money left. Ken even talked about how someone robbed his last 200 pesos at one point.

“Pinakakakaiba is ‘yung mga tanong ng tao. Noong questioning saating ‘nung simula natin parang super doubtful ng lahat, ng media. Parang very– alam mo ‘yon. Di mo alam kung paano sasagutin ng maayos kasi offensive.”

After comparing their previous struggles to current ones, Josh has something to share with his members. “We’re in control kumbaga. Hindi ka na ‘yung parang na basta-basta mawawala. Parang may building, talagang ano na natin. Maganda ‘yung foundation natin and ngayon hindi na tayo basta-basta umuuga sa mga simpleng problems.”

Before finishing the Atin Atin Lang podcast episode, the group addressed their issue with their former management. This led to cancelled tour dates because they were not allowed to use the SB19 name. The group apologized to their fans for the canceled dates, and they knew how much effort fans exerted just to see them live.
