sb19 featured on a two episode special of fast talk with boy abunda

This week’s episode of Fast Talk with Boy Abunda is part of a two-episode special featuring SB19. In it, they discuss their celebrity crushes, personal upbringings, success and hurdles as a group, and how they almost disbanded.

There’s no doubt that the boyband’s schedules are fully packed. Recently, they made several concert appearances for Puregold, Acer, and Watsons. In addition, they released Kalakal by SB19 and Gloc-9 as a response to their harsh critics. As of this writing, they’re in South Korea with the girl group BINI to represent the Philippines at a Billboard Korea event.

For their Watsons’ Playlist appearance, SB19 collaborated with other performing artists as they usually do. However, one TikTok video specifically garnered significant online attraction. It was their video dancing to Alamat’s Maharani with the original singers. In this video, the participating members caught the attention of numerous fans and casuals.

Recently, members of SB19 sat down with talk show host Boy Abunda. Guess what, this is the first interview in the show shot outside their studio. It was conducted in SB19’s “The Zone” studio in the company they built, 1Z Entertainment.

In the interview, SB19 Josh shared how glad they are to build their own studio, let alone their company. He talks about how they now have a safe and happy space for their group to conduct rehearsals and other activities.

The veteran talk show host also asked Josh about his relationship with his father. A’TIN or SB19 fans know that the rapper didn’t grow up with a father figure. Abunda asked the boy group member if he was angry towards his father.

Josh answered, “May questions pero hindi galit. Before, I was always questioning my family, my mom, myself, kung bakit ako nandition. Kasi ‘yung father ko parang nabaliw siya throughout the process. So, baka kung gaano kahirap din for us, baka ganoon din kahirap for him.”

Boy Abunda then asked them about their lives from 2016 to 2019. During this period, the Kalakal singers were still trainees under their former management, ShowBT Philippines. In this segment, many shared that they joined to help their families financially and pursue their passions.

Pablo, their leader, also expressed his happiness at fulfilling his dream in a realistic manner. At this point, they were already earning money as performers. He said he always had to make practical decisions to help sustain their family.

“During those years, diyan ko po naranasan ‘yung pinakamasayang moments ng buhay ko. Kasi ginagawa ko ‘yung gusto ko. Doon po nabuo ‘yung maraming memories and masayang pangyayari po sa buhay ko,” says Pablo.

SB19’s main dancer, Ken Suson, also mentioned how hard this time was for him. Numerous interviews have highlighted Ken’s story of coming from Zamboanga to Manila. The Pagadian local was studying in Cagayan de Oro when Josh offered him to join them. He arrived in Manila with only ₱1,500 in his pocket.

With regards to how they almost disbanded SB19’s youngest member, Justin, mentioned that, “Siguro po nangibabaw lang po talaga ‘yung passion namin. Noong time po kasi na ‘yon, marami pa kami. 2017 po noong pumasok po ako ng training nila.”

SB19 had their fair share of trials and tribulations as a group. From almost disbanding to struggles with their former management. Now, they have an upcoming movie, the Pagtatag documentary, premiering tomorrow, August 28. The documentary highlights their experiences during the Pagtatag era.
