Philippine Pop (P-Pop) fans are celebrating the fifth anniversary of “Go Up” by SB19. This is the song that gave the band to stardom after their debut and went viral on Twitter (now X). The excitement began when @BAE_Sodu, also known as Lyra, shared a post that caught the attention of many users who praised their performance.

In her tweet, she wrote, “So there is this Filipino Boy Group called SB19. They are under a Philippine branch of a Korean Company called ShowBT. The producers are Korean but the lyrics are in Tagalog (written by the members) but I didn’t feel any cringe at all! Their dance is also great 💯”

Since then, the post has garnered over one hundred thousand likes and more than seventy thousand shares. Fans around the world are celebrating the song’s fifth anniversary, and SB19 is joining in on the festivities. Their official Instagram account even sent an early morning greeting to their broadcast channel.

SB19 debuted in 2018 with the single “Tilaluha,” but they truly went viral when Lyra tweeted about “Go Up.” In an episode of their podcast “Atin Atin Lang,” the group discussed the pros and cons of social media, acknowledging that it played a significant role in their success.

The choreography for the song was choreographed by Stell Ajero, while the composition was handled by Glow and Oh-Won Lee. The lyrics were written by Felip Jhon (Ken) Suson, John Paulo (PABLO) Nase, Josh Cullen Santons, Justin de Dios, and Stellvester Ajero.

The song has received multiple awards, including Myx’s “Song of the Year” award in 2020 and the title of “Pop Performance of the Year” at that year’s Wish Music Awards.

For SB19, “Go Up” represents a life-changing moment in their journey. Released as their second single after “Tilaluha,” the group faced challenges and considered giving up. Viewing it as their “last shot” after their debut single did not achieve the desired success.

In a 2020 interview with Rappler, Pablo from SB19 emphasized the significance of “Go Up,” stating, “Ito yung nagstart ng everything, kung ano man yung meron kami ngayon. Mayroon kaming A’TIN dahil sa ‘Go Up’.”
