Senior Deputy Majority Leader Ferdinand Alexander ‘Sandro’ Marcos broke his silence over Sara Duterte’s statement regarding her exhumation threat.

During a hearing on October 18, Sara Duterte stated that she would exhume and throw the remains of Ferdinand Marcos Sr. into the sea. Various House members and lawmakers found her statement offensive and called her out for it.

Sandro initially remained silent out of respect for the Vice President, but he later stated that Sara had “crossed the line.” He posted a statement about the matter on his Facebook page on Tuesday.

“As a son, I cannot stay silent while she threatens to exhume a former president and behead an incumbent one. Besides, her bizarre temper tantrum has been condemned by a nation horrified from such displays of insensitivity towards the dead and cruelty to the living,” Sandro wrote.

“Forget that the objects of her derisions are dear to me, but I would also be remiss in my responsibility as an Ilocano representative if I didn’t voice out my disdain at the abhorrent comments she so carelessly uttered,” he added.

Sandro Marcos continued his statement by emphasizing the importance of not taking mental health for granted.

“May she find the peace of mind and mental clarity that seems to be eluding her,” Sandro concluded.

Since it’s publishing, Sandro Marcos’s statement has garnered supportive responses from netizens.

“Very Well said, with dignity and honor! Kudos to you, Sandro! It’s time for the Marcos to speak out!” a user commented.

“Yes! I agree with you, Cong. Sandro that they’re indulging their bad behavior when interviewed on national television,” another user added, citing criticism of Duterte’s typical behavior.

In related news, the Department of Justice (DoJ) is exploring potential legal action against Sara over her exhumation threat.

“There were many moral principles that were violated. It is very disturbing for a person in her position to issue such statements and it is a moral hazard for us to be hearing such remarks from a person in her position,” Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla told reporters.
