Leonardo “Remy” Monteverde, husband of Regal Films founder Mother Lily Monteverde, passed away on July 29th, as confirmed by his family. The latter has confirmed her husband’s passing through an obituary card shared via Instagram.
Remy Monteverde was a beloved figure. He was known for his unwavering support and contribution to the local film industry. His cause of death has been confirmed to be pneumonia complications.
Born on December 25, 1937, Monteverde was a former basketball player for San Beda High School and Mapua College. “Remy” will also be remembered as a loving husband to Lily. One of his children, Roselle, continues the family tradition at Regal Films.

Director Erik Matti and Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) chairperson Joey Reyes paid tribute to Remy on their Facebook pages.
“To the Monteverde family—Lily Monteverde Meme, (children) Roselle Monteverde, Dondon Monteverde, and Goldwyn, our deepest sympathies for the passing of Father Remy Monteverde,” Matti wrote in his post.
“His legacy and contribution to Philippine cinema through Regal Films will always be remembered and recognized. He has championed Filipino Action movies and defined them for so many decades, with such icons as Lito Lapid and Ace Vergel headlining the marquee. Rest in peace, Father.”

Reyes recalled how Remy also served as a father role to those who grew up in Regal Entertainment.
“He has always been “Father” to all of us who grew up in Regal. And he has always been the strong silent figure beside the gregarious Mother Lily.” Reyes stated in his post. “Now he has gone home to the waiting arms of our Big Father. And he will be missed as much as he was and will always be loved. Rest in eternal peace, Father Remy Monteverde.”
Celebrities such as Lurice Guillen, Joel Lamangan, Ricky Davao, and Aster Amoyo also extended their condolences to the family. The latter also extend their gratitude for the support, thoughts, and prayers.
The wake of Leonardo “Remy” Monteverde will be held at the 38 Valencia Events Place in Quezon City from July 31, Wednesday, to August 2, Friday.
