Singaporean actor Raynold Tan comments about how unique the Filipino lifestyle and hospitality are when working on 2 different production teams.

“When I worked here in the Philippines, I noticed that the Filipinos were more willing to have fun,” Raynold commented on his experience. “The set was very lively. And everyone was cracking jokes and laughing. The atmosphere was amazing.”

He compared the Filipino lifestyle to his home city-state. “Singapore is maybe more systematic like we have to get this done by this time. Not to say that one is better than the other, it’s just the subtle difference we have. But in general, both sets of crews were professional.”

Raynold Tan is best known for his role in the Pinoy BL series “The Day I Loved You,” which was aired last year. He, alongside fellow Singaporean actors David Matthew Ubaño and Brian Ng, visited the country for a press conference between TCP Artistes and Filipino media company Virtual Playground (VP) Global Management.

The two companies aim to expand their artists’ careers throughout and beyond Southeast Asia. They will help navigate the entertainment industry and trends in their respective territories.

Raynold Tan didn’t make it a secret that he looks forward to working on Filipino projects. Brian Ng also shares the same thoughts regarding the Filipino lifestyle and warmth during his time working with local production staff members.

“I’m impressed by Filipinos’ warmth, hospitality, and openness to friendships. They have a hunger for life,” Brian said. “They feel very strongly and love fiercely. They’re not afraid to show emotions—that’s something we Singaporeans can probably learn from Filipinos because we tend to be more reserved.”

Brian also added that he is inspired when working with Pinoys. “From a professional perspective, I can probably add those qualities to my repertoire. I hope I can be more spontaneous the more I work with Filipinos.”

Raynold also shared Brian and Raynold’s sentiments, as he was looked after by a Filipino yaya. “Filipinos treated me like their own. We Singaporeans have a lot to learn from your hospitality.”

The Filipino lifestyle is adopted from the country’s unique blend of diversity and culture from various influences. Having an array of influences contributes to the locals shaping their unique practices and how work is carried out. This way of thinking is carried even to this day.
