It’s confirmed that legendary music producer Quincy Jones passed away at 91 years old on Sunday, November 3. The news was confirmed through a statement by Jones’ publicist, Arnold Robinson.
Unfortunately, Robinson’s statement didn’t mention Quincy Jones’ cause of death. However, reports say family surrounded the music legend at his home in Bel Air, Los Angeles, at the time of his death.
Here’s what Arnold Robinson’s statement mentioned:
“Tonight, with full but broken hearts, we must share the news of our father and brother Quincy Jones’ passing,” Jones’ family said in the statement.
“And although this is an incredible loss for our family, we celebrate the great life that he lived and know there will never be another like him,” it continued.
“We take comfort and immense pride in knowing that the love and joy, that were the essence of his being, was shared with the world through all that he created,” the statement adds. “Through his music and his boundless love, Quincy Jones’ heart will beat for eternity.”

Quincy Jones has left behind seven children, including actress Rashida Jones. Considering Quincy Jones’ net worth, reports say that his descendants are set to inherit a significant fortune after his death.
Aside from being a reputable music producer, Quincy Jones was also a renowned singer. He worked with other music giants, including Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, and Michael Jackson.
Throughout his music career, Quincy Jones has released several albums and songs. Among others, he’s known for his hit track ‘Soul Bossa Nova,’ and co-wrote ‘We Are The World’ with Lionel Richie. He also composed the plenty of movie soundtracks, including, ”Roots’ and ‘In the Heat of the Night.’
But for Filipinos, Quincy Jones holds a special place in our hearts since he was the artist of our all-time go-to karaoke song ‘Just Once.’ We’re pretty sure several can relate to how our dads, titos, or grandpas would queue up this song during karaoke nights.

Speaking of special connections, Quincy Jones also unexpectedly played a part in forming K-pop girl group MAMAMOO’s Wheein and soloist Ailee’s friendship. According to Koreaboo, the two artists met in 2013 at an after-party for a Quincy Jones concert where MAMAMOO performed. Since then, Wheein and Ailee have formed a strong bond and continue to support each other in their careers.
