Voice actress Rachael Lillis passed away on August 10, the news of which was confirmed recently. The actress is widely recognized for her role in the Pokémon TV series as Misty and Jesse.

She has also worked on various films and video games since the late 1900s. Some of her additional roles include Jigglypuff from the film Detective Pikachu and the game Super Smash Bros.

Fellow voice actress Veronica Taylor, known for her role as Ash Ketchum, announced the death of Rachael Lillis.

“It is with a very heavy heart that I share the news of the passing of Rachael Lillis on Saturday evening,” Taylor said. “Rachael was an extraordinary talent, a bright light that shone through her voice whether speaking or singing.”

Rachael Lillis’ cause of death has been revealed as breast cancer, a disease she had been battling for a long time. Lillis’s sister Laurie Orr also confirmed the sad news on a GoFundMe page, a site where she hoped to raise funds for the cancer treatment.

“This was unexpected and we are completely grief-stricken. My heart breaks losing my dear little sister, though I am comforted knowing she is free,” she said.

Lillis was born in 1978 in New York. She had experience in opera before she took on voice acting. Ever since then, her voice has appeared in more than 400 Pokémon episodes. Rachael Lillis’ breast cancer was diagnosed back in May.

Recently, The Pokemon Company has released a letter to tribute the late actress.
