The arrival of Bagyong Kristine has placed 43 areas, including Metro Manila, under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) no. 1.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the latest location of the tropical storm was 335 km east of Virac, Catanduanes.
The reports also indicated that the storm maintains a maximum sustained winds of 65 km per hour. The latest weather forecast stated that Bagyong Kristine is expected to move northwest and land in Isabela or northern Aurora.
It also warned that the tropical storm may intensify further later on.

PAGASA stated that the storm might slightly weaken once it passes through Northern Luzon’s mountainous terrain.
Before Bagyong Kristine’s arrival, many government agencies have already made preparations. In fact, the Malacañang announced the suspension of government work and classes at all levels in the Luzon region on October 22.
However, the Office of the Executive Secretary stated that agencies involved in the delivery of health services, response to disasters, and/or performance of other vital services should continue their operations.

Additionally, private companies and offices are left to their discretion in regard to suspending work.
Recently, the heavy rains and wind brought by Bagyong Kristine have caused a landslide in Taft, Eastern Samar. According to the local government, the landslide occurred in Barangay Binaloan around 8 PM Tuesday, rendering roads and the bridge impassable.
Local authorities have already evacuated 98 people to the municipal evacuation center in Barangay 5 Poblacion.
