MANILA, PHILIPPINES — After a brief respite and a weekend exhibition game, PBA goes back to court business as the Beermen and Road Kings prepare to battle for the top 4 spots.
From the City of Passi Arena, the PBA Governor’s cup is set to take place at the Pasig Philippine Sports Arena on Wednesday, March 15.
PBA announced the playdate and described what the basketball followers might expect from the games.
A victory will elevate the NLEX to a secure spot, but a defeat will put them on equal footing with the Meralco Bolts and the Magnolia Hotshots at 7-4, all in the fourth. The Meralco Bolts are at an advantage when it comes to numbers.
Meanwhile, the Beermen will go into combat without their star player and six-time MVP winner June Mar Fajardo who suffered from a knee injury in their East Asia Super League Champions Week stint in Japan.
SMB Manager Gee Abanilla would also be unable to join his camp due to his grade 3 Medial Ligament Collateral (MLC) injury.
“We need to regroup,” said CJ Perez, who will lead the Beermen in this basketball war.
Meanwhile, TNT Tropang Giga also prepares to take Northport Batang Pier in what was described to be a survival game.
Northport needs to defeat TNT on Wednesday to ensure a tie with the Fuel Masters at 4-7. This will ensure that the two teams play a knockout game for the final playoff ticket, which was the case in the last conference between the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters and NLEX.
