Netflix confirmed that the upcoming period drama film “Uprising” will be available on streaming on October 11th. The platform shared the news on social media alongside the film’s teaser poster. The film will also have a world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival on October 2.
The film will be produced and co-written by renowned screenwriter Park Chan-wook and directed by Kim Sang-man.

Park’s involvement in the film garners attention, as he is a successful filmmaker. He is known for the acclaimed films “Oldboy” and “Handmaiden.” He even won best director at the Cannes Film Festival for his work on the mystery film “Decision to Leave.”
The film will star Gang Dong-won, who stars in “Temptation of Wolves” and the film “Peninsula” and Park Jeong-min, from “Hellbound.”
According to Netflix, the film “Uprising” follows the story of two childhood friends during the Japanese invasion of Korea. The friends find themselves on opposing sides and are forced to fight as enemies. Cheon-yeong will portray a humble servant, while Park Jeong-min will play the son of a prestigious military family.

The film will also star Cha Seung Won as King Seonjo, Kim Shin Rok as Bum Dong, Jin Sun Kyu as Kim Ja Ryeong, and Jung Sung II as Kenshin.
“Uprising delves into themes of friendship, loyalty, and betrayal against the backdrop of societal class differences and war,” the platform shared under their site.
