WEATHER UPDATE – Low pressure area is moving west Southwest of Zamboanga City, Northeast Monsoon affects Northern and Central Luzon, Shear Line affects the eastern section of Southern Luzon.

Weather Update Today – December 19, 2023

PAGASA’s weather update today (December 19, 2023) says at 3:00 AM, the Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated based on all available data at 290 km West Southwest of Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur (6.0°N, 119.6°E). Northeast Monsoon affects Northern and Central Luzon. The Shear Line affects the eastern section of Southern Luzon.

Visayas, Mindanao, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Quezon, and Aurora will encounter cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the LPA / Shear Line. Possible flash floods or landslides may occur due moderate to at times heavy rains.

Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region will also encounter cloudy skies with rains caused by Northeast Monsoon. Possible flash floods or landslides may occur due to moderate at times heavy rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains caused by Northeast Monsoon with no significant impact.

According to PAGASA’s Wind and Coastal Water forecast, Extreme Northern Luzon has Strong wind speed directed to Northeast with Rough / (2.8 to 4.5 meters).

Visayas, the rest of Luzon, and eastern section of Mindanao has Moderate to Strong wind speed directed to East facing Northeast  with Moderate to Rough / (1.2 to 4.5 meters)

The rest of Mindanao has Light to Moderate wind speed directed to East with Slight to Moderate / (0.6 to 2.5 meters) coastal waters. 

Under present weather conditions, Low pressure area is moving west Southwest of Zamboanga City , Northeast Monsoon affects Northern and Central Luzon, Shear Line affects the eastern section of Southern Luzon.
