News of Bestlink College of the Philippines has recently gone viral due to concerns posted online on different social media platform from its students.
The college is facing scrutiny from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) after reportedly holding an unauthorized off-campus activity without the required documents that allegedly compromised the welfare of its students.
CHED Chairperson Popoy de Vera announced on January 27 that the Commission on Higher Education would be issuing a show cause order against Bestlink College of the Philippines.
This action follows the college’s celebration of its founding anniversary at a resort in Bataan, which was conducted without the necessary approvals and documentation required for off-campus activities.
De Vera emphasized that the commission had discussed the issue and decided to take this step due to concerns regarding the event’s organization and safety measures for students.
Meanwhile, students, netizens and parents alike have shared their reactions on TikTok and X, expressing their concern about the issue saying the institution was irresponsible for their actions.
Bestlink College is a private college in Quezon City, offering various courses, including programs in Business & Social Sciences, Education, Engineering, Health & Psychology, Information Technology, Criminology, Technical-Vocational Courses, and Short Courses.
It can be recalled that a similar occasion where an accident occured caused by a bus carrying students from Bestlink College crashed in Tanay, Rizal, during a field trip for the National Service Training Program (NSTP). The accident, caused by brake failure, resulted in the deaths of 15 individuals, including 14 students and the bus driver.
The bus collided with an electric post while en route to Sacramento Adventure Camp.
