On Wednesday, September 11, HYBE’s K-pop girl group NewJeans shocked fans by going on a surprise YouTube livestream to call for Min Hee Jin’s reinstatement as CEO of sublabel ADOR by September 25.
According to translations by Soompi, NewJeans shared that they had a meeting with HYBE label’s marketing department but believed that their message didn’t come across clearly.
“We prepared this live broadcast because the five of us have something we really want to say,” Hyein said.
Our message today is ultimately directed at HYBE. We already met with company management and expressed our opinions, but based on the events that followed, it seems they didn’t properly convey or communicate what we wanted.

Danielle then explained in English that the group and Min Hee Jin shared the same vision on the type of music and content they wanted to create and release.
“CEO Min Hee Jin is not only the person that produces our music, but someone who makes NewJeans who we are. She discusses even the smallest details with us and explains them in ways that we can understand clearly.
NewJeans has a distinct color and tone, and this was created with CEO Min Hee Jin. She is integral to NewJeans’ identity, and we all feel that she is irreplaceable.” Danielle said.
The members also noted how the new management would work differently than their old system under Min since the new management had no “power to confirm or approve everything.”
“I personally want to keep working with the people around me that helped me grow mentally and helped me feel the life force within myself, for whom I am grateful, but I can’t understand why external forces keep interfering and disturbing us. I don’t know if I need to understand it,” Haerin said.

The group then wrapped up the broadcast by saying, “We have the choice to choose how we will react to each situation, and we are not going to follow HYBE’s every orders blindly. We fully understand that this is interfering with our work, and they should treat us much, much better than they are right now.
“And it’s very hard to believe that they are truly sincere about wanting to help us continue to be able to work with our CEO Min Hee Jin. “Even though she’s in the midst of all this legal conflict, we expect her to plan and creatively produce our future endeavors in just two months, which I personally think makes no sense at all,” she added.
“We don’t want to hear all the empty words of how they’re going to help us continue to work with CEO Min Hee Jin. We all want to resolve this legal conflict and return our working environment to the way it was before, back to normal.”

Minji ended the livestream with a firm statement: ‘We want the original ADOR, with Min Hee Jin as CEO and management and production combined. We’re making this request because it’s the only way to get along with HYBE without conflict.
If we’ve properly conveyed our opinions, we hope Chairman Bang and HYBE will decide to restore ADOR to its previous state by the 25th.
The YouTube channel where NewJeans went live has been deleted. ADOR dismissed Min Hee Jin from her position as CEO on August 27. Her representative stated that the company made the decision unilaterally and did not discuss it with her.
