NBI Joins Senate Hunt for Missing Alice Guo

After multiple Senate hearings of Alice Guo, authorities issued arrest orders for her and her companions. However, the suspended mayor remains in hiding. As a result, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has assisted the Senate in locating her.

Since Alice Guo went missing, Philippine Senators have sought help from various national agencies to find her. This afternoon, news broke that the NBI is now prepared to assist in the search. However, the Senate’s Sergeant-at-Arms has not yet filed an official request for assistance.

In an interview, NBI Director Jaime Santiago stated, “Pinagsabihan ko na aking region three na commanders na mag conduct na ng ano, makatulong kami sa Senate, sa paghahanap kay Mayor Guo.” The Bureau is also committed to sharing any information they uncover with the Senate promptly.

Moreover, Guo’s camp assures the government that she remains in the country. The issued arrest order was due to her multiple absences from hearings related to her cases and her involvement in POGO hubs in Bamban, Tarlac.

“Authorities questioned Alice Guo’s nationality multiple times, aside from her involvement in POGO hubs.” Evidence shows that her real identity is Guo Hua Ping, a Chinese citizen.

In an interview about Guo’s absence, Senator Sherwin Gatchalian shared, “The operations to find her are ongoing. That’s why my recommendation to our security office is to expand and tap other enforcement agencies like the Bureau of Immigration as well as the National Bureau of Investigation. The Senate has collaborated and partnered with other enforcements like the Philippine National Police.”

During a conversation with Radyo 360, Guo’s legal counsel shared his conversation with her on Sunday, stating, “I talked to her yesterday for more than an hour. Of course, this is our advice to her:  You can’t hide forever, right? And remember, this is a Senate warrant of arrest. So this is not to punish you or anything. You were subpoenaed just so that you can testify or just so that you can be a resource person in the Senate because they want to ask you questions for which only you have the answers.”

In addition, her lawyers are claiming that she is willing to surrender herself after she stopped attending Senate hearings voluntarily Alice Guo, and was issued an arrest order. Guo’s legal counsel, Stephen David, advised his client on Sunday that she could not hide from authorities forever.
