The National Bureau of Investigation, or NBI, found discrepancies in Alice Guo’s notarized affidavit. They say that her signatures don’t match her counter-affidavit, which was notarized by her attorney.

Jaime Santiago, NBI’s Director, said that their dactyloscopy exam confirmed the differences between the signatures. This is a method of studying or observing fingerprints, often used in criminal investigations. In his direct message to the Inquirer, the director wrote, “Not written by the same person.”

The dismissed Bamban Mayor fled the country after failing to attend several hearings. Alice Guo was caught in Indonesia, along with her accomplices, Sheila Guo and Cassandra Li Ong. Both are facing other charges against them as well. After this, Indonesian authorities returned them to the country.

Since her alleged involvement in illegal activities in the country, multiple things have unfolded about her. This included her real identity and her supposed relationship with Mayor Calugay.

Her affidavit is an essential piece of the puzzle regarding her escape. Moreover, sources say that she fled the Philippines in early July. However, she supposedly signed a counter-affidavit in the following month of August. This document was notarized by her legal counsel and representative, Atty. Galicia.

Justice Undersecretary Felix Nicholas Ty warned Atty. Galicia of his possible penalties for his involvement in the falsification of documents. Furthermore, he said that this could result in his notarial register cancellation.

Since her first hearing, various Filipinos have checked the internet for “Alice Guo hearing today.” Over the course of a few months, multiple complaints have been filed against her, including qualified human trafficking.

The Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission and the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group filed this in June.

On August 6, it was resubmitted for resolution. However, Alice Guo’s camp filed to reopen the investigation and resubmitted her notarized counter-affidavit on August 10. Guo left the country in July, which raised red flags.
