CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, PHILIPPINES — On January 13, 2025, Cagayan de Oro City can be seen with thousands of attendess for the INC rally today, organized by the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) as part of a nationwide demonstration.
The event, dubbed the National Rally for Peace, is said to be aimed at gathering support for Vice President Sara Duterte amid ongoing impeachment complaints against her.
The rally is significant as it represents a unified stand by the Iglesia ni Cristo community in support of the country’s overall standing.
This nationwide event, part of the National Rally for Peace, aims to highlight the importance of prioritizing national issues over political disputes, showcasing the INC’s influence in Philippine politics.
Thousands of INC members gather at Plaza Divisoria and surrounding areas from 8 AM to 6 PM today. The rally is part of a broader effort, with simultaneous events occurring in cities like Manila, Cebu, and Davao.
Participants are expected to wear white shirts as a show of unity and support for the Vice President, who is currently facing three impeachment complaints.
In preparation for the INC rally update, the city government has suspended classes in public schools and work in local government offices to ensure safety and facilitate the event. Traffic management measures have been implemented, including temporary road closures.
Mobile phone services will also be suspended in the vicinity of the rally from 8 AM to 5 PM, a precautionary measure aimed at maintaining security during the event.
The INC has coordinated with local authorities to manage crowd control effectively and ensure that sidewalks remain accessible for pedestrians.
