An SUV crashed into the departure area of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 on May 4, 2025, killing two people, including a 5-year-old girl.
The incident took place in the early morning hours, as the vehicle struck the terminal’s entrance walkway.
The SUV, after dropping off passengers and unloading luggage, suddenly accelerated and crashed into the terminal’s wall.
Authorities confirmed that the victims included a young girl and a 29-year-old man.
The crash injured three additional individuals who were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Authorities have confirmed that the driver is in police custody, awaiting drug testing as part of the ongoing investigation.
Initial reports suggest that the crash was not intentional.
The Department of Transportation is investigating the cause and is working closely with the airport management.
New NAIA Infra Corporation (NNIC) President Ramon S. Ang has pledged to assist the families of the victims.

The driver of the NAIA crash is Leo Gonzales, 47, from Tayuman, Batangas. He is in police custody after his black Ford Everest suddenly accelerated and crashed into the terminal’s glass wall.
NAIA Terminal 1 is owned by the Philippine government and operated by the New NAIA Infra Corporation (NNIC), a private company.
NAIA Terminal 1 is the primary international terminal at Ninoy Aquino International Airport, handling international flights in and out of the Philippines.
