Veteran Filipino actor Mon Confiado filed a criminal case against a social media user after fabricating a story about an encounter with him. The actor went to the NBI Cybercrime Division branch to file a case against Ileiad or Jeff Jacinto.
A few days before pursuing legal action, the actor called out the content creator. He said that these claims against him were false. In the original post, Confiado commented, “This is not funny! You are ruining my name. Kahit ‘Copy pasta’ ito! Not everyone will understand this. This never happened. Not funny! Don’t drag my name!”

The copypasta meaning is when online users copy and paste content and share it to their own page. A lot of online users do this to share fabricated stories about celebrity encounters. Some are more satirical, while some are damaging.
The post about the actor revolved around an encounter with him at the grocery store. According to the post Mon bought fifteen chocolate bars that he didn’t pay for and that he was rude to the cashier.
The Emilio Aguinaldo and Heneral Luna actor also shared a screenshot of his conversation with the content creator. Here, it is evident that the user apologized for his actions, but Mon did not take this lightly. The actor also pointed out that despite being called out, the post is still up for the public to see.

Online users also shared the same sentiments as Mon Confiado. Many acknowledged that not many of Mon’s audience understand this content. Furthermore, they shared that not all Filipinos understand meme posting and may perceive it as true.
One user commented, “Tama si Mon dito. Dami matatanda sa FB, di nila alam kung ano ang ‘copypasta’.”

After filing a case, Mon Confiado stated, “Dear Mr. Jeff Leanneroie Bonilla Jacinto alias Ileiad, nawa’y maging aral sa iyo ito at sa ating lahat. Na ang paggamit ng pangalan at larawan ng walang pahintulot ay krimen. Na hindi lahat ng jokes ay nakakatawa at hindi lahat ng jokes ay para sa lahat. Dapat sana ang joke ay nakakapagpasaya at hindi nakakasira ng tao.”
