Meta Platforms Inc. has temporarily blocked the Facebook pages of Sonshine Media Network International (SMNI) and its related channels, DZAR 1026 and SMNI Integrated News.
In response, SMNI released a statement on its website, denying that they post harmful content.
They emphasized, “Let us be clear: we do not post anything harmful to the community.”
If this is the price for speaking the TRUTH, then so be it. SMNI will always speak the TRUTH THAT MATTERS”
The suspension occurred shortly after the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte, who is a known ally of SMNI’s owner, televangelist Apollo Quiboloy.
The pastor has faced several controversies, including allegations of human trafficking and child abuse, leading to U.S. sanctions against him
Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, a supporter of Duterte, expressed concern about the suspension on social media.
He suggested that people look for information on SMNI’s other Meta accounts.
Currently, SMNI’s pages are not accessible on major platforms like Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram, but their website is still available.
Meta’s actions aim to keep their platforms safe and respectful for all users.
The affected pages include SMNI News, DZAR 1026, and SMNI Integrated News.
No. In 2023, YouTube also removed SMNI’s channels, including those linked to its founder, Apollo Quiboloy, due to policy violations and U.S. sanctions against him.
Meta continues to enforce strict rules against hate speech and harmful content, showing that even large media organizations are not exempt from its guidelines.
