According to the latest news, Mel Gibson is currently in Malta with a production team. They’re scouting potential filming locations for the movie, which is part of their five–day trip involving meetings with government officials.
“All we can confirm is they were scouting locations recently,” Gibson’s publicist, Alan Nierob, stated. He also added that there is “not a lot to discuss at this early stage.”
Gibson has been working on the upcoming sequel to ‘The Passion of The Christ’ for years. He was collaborating on the script with Randall Wallace, the screenwriter of “Braveheart.” Wallace stated in a previous interview in April that the script had been completed.

2004’s “The Passion of The Christ” revolves around the final 12 hours of Jesus Christ before his death, which is known as the “Passion.” Gibson’s efforts, careful research, and direction have resulted in the film becoming the most successful Christian film to date. The film has also garnered controversies since its release, such as its graphic violence and alleged antisemitic views.
Mel Gibson revealed news of the film’s sequel back in July 2023, adding that the film would be as impactful and as emotional as the first. His latest film “Flight Risk” will be released on January 24, 2025.
