There’s no official announcement yet, but rumors have been circulating that there will be ‘Mamma Mia 3.’ The news came from Christine Baranski, who played Tanya in the first two movies.
Baranski shared that she recently met with producer Judy Craymer, “I was in London with Judy Craymer at our favorite watering hole; she is planning Mamma Mia 3. She gave me the narrative plotline of how it’s going to happen. That’s all I can say!”
Christine Baranski also shared that she’s optimistic that ‘Mamma Mia 3’ will happen.
“But, it’s not like, ‘Oh, I wish it could happen!’ Judy Craymer makes things happen. She made number two happen, and it was a phenomenal hit. I believe Judy Kramer can get everyone back together,” she said.

In May 2024, ‘Mamma Mia!’ star, Meryl Streep told Deadline that a meeting was on the horizon about proposals for her character’s return in a third movie. In the second film, ‘Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again!’, Streep’s character, Donna Sheridan, was revealed to have died.
“I don’t know how they’re going to do it. They have an idea. I haven’t heard it yet but it’s in [my diary] and I’m going to hear about it pretty soon,” Streep said in the Deadline interview.

In June 2020, Judy Craymer told Daily Mail that a third ‘Mamma Mia’ movie was always part of the plan. “I think one day there will be another film, because there’s meant to be a trilogy,” she said.
In May 2023, the producer then told Deadline that ‘Mamma Mia 3’ was in its earliest stages. As of writing, there are no concrete details about the cast and release date for ‘Mamma Mia 3,’ yet.
