Malacañang has approved a half-day work-from-home setup for government employees on Holy Wednesday, April 16, 2025.

This decision gives government workers more time to prepare for Holy Week.

Employees will work remotely only until 12 noon. After that, they are free to take the rest of the day off.

Offices providing essential services will keep a small team on duty.

This ensures public services continue without major disruption.

The Civil Service Commission will issue further guidelines to help agencies implement the setup properly.

The half-day arrangement is part of the government’s flexible work strategy.

It’s meant to ease traffic and support workers observing Holy Week traditions.

Regular office operations will resume on April 21, after the Holy Week break.

The public is advised to expect limited service from government agencies on Holy Wednesday.

This temporary setup applies only to government offices.

Private companies may follow their own work schedules unless stated otherwise.

For updates and specific agency guidelines, employees and the public can check official government websites and social media channels.

Who is covered by the half-day work-from-home order?

All government employees in the Philippines are covered by the order. However, those in essential or frontline services must stay on duty to ensure uninterrupted public service.

What time does work end on Holy Wednesday?

Work officially ends at 12:00 noon on April 16, 2025. After that, employees are free to observe Holy Week or travel home early.

What if I need to access a government service on Holy Wednesday afternoon?

Most offices will have reduced or no in-person services after noon. It’s best to handle important matters earlier in the week or after the holiday.
