Camarines Sur Governor Luigi Villafuerte is facing criticism after reports and videos surfaced showing him enjoying himself while neglecting to assist the victims of Typhoon Kristine.

A user on Twitter/X has shared two short video clips. The first clip shows Villafuerte sitting on a speedboat and chatting with others.

“While the entire Bicol region is submerged in floodwaters and in desperate need of help and rescue, Camarines Sur Governor Luigi Villafuerte and his girlfriend, Yassi Pressman, were spotted in Siargao,” the Twitter/X user wrote.

In the second video, Villafuerte and the group, now joined by Yassi, are seen speeding across the water. The Twitter/X user concludes his thread with a request for help and refrains from blaming other parties:

“I encourage everyone in this post to refrain from blaming my fellow Bicolanos. We need assistance right now. Instead, focus on holding the elected officials accountable and ensuring they fulfill their duties to their constituents who badly need help.”

Several users commented on the post to share their thoughts on the matter. Most of them had mixed reactions, including anger at Luigi Villafuerte. Others blamed the people’s voting choices.

“Cam-sur deserves better politicians. Jusme inuna pa’yan kesa sa mamamayan niya,” this user stated.

“Well, you get who you vote for. That’s a lesson, but people never learn, so it’s just gonna be a cycle,” another user criticized.

One user even highlighted the time when Vice President Sara Duterte fled the country with her family when Typhoon Carina made landfall.

In related news, Luis Raymund Villafuerte, Luigi’s father, denies claims of being stranded in Siargao.

“Ngayon panahon ng kalamidad, dapat lahat nagtutulungan at nagkakaisa. Pero ang mga desperado at sinungaling na kalaban namin nagkakalat ng fake news,” Luis stated.

According to Luis, the posts being spread throughout social media were from a previous event before the storm.
