MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The 25-year-old actress Liza Soberano appeared on her YouTube channel on Sunday, February 26, to open up about her life updates after signing with a new management agency.
Liza admitted that many people were shocked when she decided to sign with a new management agency last year.
The actress signed a contract with Careless Music, James Reid’s music label and management company, in June 2022. She did not renew her contract with her longtime manager, Ogie Diaz, as well as with Star Magic, the talent agency of ABS-CBN.
In her vlog, the actress confessed that she had let other people decide her showbiz career for the past thirteen years. This is the very reason why she signed with James’ management.
“I am 25 years old now and I think people forget that I’ve been working for 13 years now since I was 12 years old,” Liza said in her 14-minute YouTube vlog.
Liza revealed that it’s time to do what she wants for herself, even if other people don’t like it.
“I had been approached by so many different managements before and it was the first time any of them had asked me what I wanted, what made me happy,” explained Liza.
“I’ve sacrificed my childhood, I’ve sacrificed my freedom, I’ve sacrificed my happiness to present Liza Soberano to the world. And I think I’ve earned the right to finally be me, to finally be able to do things for me, as Hope Soberano,” she added. Hope Elizabeth Soberano is Liza’s real name.
“I didn’t even choose the name, Liza. It was chosen for me,” she revealed.
Liza is currently working with a new brand, announcing that the commercial for the brand is her first-ever dabble at directing.
