April is here! Other than being known as one of the hottest months of the year in the Philippines, April is also known to hold several holidays, which Filipinos absolutely love. This quick blog will list the April 2023 holidays so you can plan ahead for your vacations.

Pursuant to Proclamation No. 90 signed by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. in November 2022, the following is the official list of holidays in April 2023:

Regular Holidays

  • April 6, 2023 – Maundy Thursday
  • April 7, 2023 – Good Friday
  • April 10, 2023 (Monday nearest to April 9) – Araw ng Kagitingan

Special (Non-Working) Holidays

  • April 8, 2023 – Black Saturday

Is April 5, 2023, a holiday in the Philippines?

Through Memorandum Circular No. 16, s. 2023 signed today, March 31, 2023, all government offices will end working hours from 12 noon onwards.



“To provide government employees full opportunity to properly observe 06-07 April 2023, regular holidays, and to allow them to travel to and from the different regions in the country, work in the government offices on 05 April 2023 is hereby suspended from 12:00 o’clock in the afternoon onwards,” read the statement.

Is April 21, 2023 (Eid al Fitr), a holiday in the Philippines?

According to the official website of the BANGSAMORO DARUL-IFTA’-BARMM, Eid al Fitr 2023 is expected to be celebrated on Friday, April 21, 2023.

In Proclamation No. 42 signed by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. in August, Section 2 states:



The proclamation declaring national holidays for the observance of Eidul Fitr and Eidul Adha shall hereafter be issued after the approximate dates of the Islamic holidays have been determined in accordance with the Islamic calendar (Hijra) or the lunar calendar, or upon Islamic astronomical calculations, whichever is possible or convenient. To this end, the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos shall recommend to the Office of the President the actual dates on which these holidays shall respectively fall.

At the moment, the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos has yet to release an announcement with regard to the Ramadan holiday. – WhatALife!
