Linkin Park announced its reunion on Thursday with Emily Armstrong of Dead Sara joining the rap-rock band as their new co-leading vocalist.
Along with Armstrong’s appointment as Linkin Park’s new vocalist, songwriter, and producer, Colin Brittain will join the band as their new drummer. Original Linkin Park members include rapper and producer Mike Shinoda, guitarist Brad Delson, DJ Joe Hahn, and bassist Phoenix.

The announcement was made during a live performance event on Thursday, which will be available on the band’s official online channels. After the event, the band released the announcement and their first new single, “The Emptiness Machine.”
The song is part of their upcoming album, “From Zero.” This marks their latest release since 2017’s “One More Light,” which came out a few months before the passing of lead vocalist Chester Bennington. Linkin Park’s original members paid tribute to Bennington in 2017 with a show at the Hollywood Bowl.
During a press conference, Shinoda elaborated on the band’s plan.
“The more we worked with Emily and Colin, the more we enjoyed their world-class talents, their company, and the things we created. We feel really empowered with this new lineup and the vibrant and energized new music we’ve made together. We’re weaving together the sonic touchpoints we’ve been known for and still exploring new ones.”

The original Linkin Park members further revealed that rather than trying to restart the band, the original members decided to work with numerous musicians. They settled with Armstrong and Brittain after forming a kinship with them.
“We are proud of what Linkin Park has become over the years and excited about the journey ahead,” Shinoda stated.
The group’s upcoming “From Zero” World Tour includes shows in Los Angeles, Hamburg, New York, London, Seoul, and Bogota. Linkin Park revealed they will have a show at Inglewood’s Kia Forum on Sept. 11.
