Legendary actor James Earl Jones passed away at 93 on Monday, September 9, at his home in Dutchess County, New York.
His agent has confirmed the sad news. He also shared that Jones was surrounded by his family when he passed away. However, the representative did not share how Jones died.
Jones is easily recognizable for his booming, deep, royalty-like voice. It was his voice that landed him in some of his most iconic roles, including Darth Vader from Star Wars and Mufasa from The Lion King. He is also recognizable for his role as King Jaffe Joffer in the comedy film Coming to America.

Over the years, Jones has appeared as a guest for dozens of TV series. The appearance of James Earl Jones in “The Big Bang Theory” was also memorable as the actor’s exchange with Sheldon was comedic magic.
News of James Earl Jones’s death has spread across the internet, with fans and celebrities alike sharing their tribute and admiration for the actor’s work.

One of these celebrities, Mark Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker, shared a simple message on Twitter/X: “RIP Dad.”
Walt Disney Company chief executive officer Bob Iger also pays tribute to the actor with a deep message:
“From the gentle wisdom of Mufasa to the menacing threat of Darth Vader, James Earl Jones gave voice to some of the greatest characters in cinema history.”
“The Lion King” co-director Rob Minkoff wrote his own message:
”I was blessed to get to work with him. His portrayal of Mufasa was perfection. What a powerful man and actor. Gone but will never be forgotten. Rest in power.”
