Wesley Guo, the brother of dismissed Bamban mayor Alice Guo, is ready to surrender, said their lawyer on Thursday, September 5.
Lawyer Stephen David revealed the news in an interview with reports before the State of the Senate subcommittee on Justice and Human Rights hearing on various issues against the Guo family.
David said Wesley told him about his intentions in a phone conversation on Wednesday, September 5, the same day his sister was arrested in Indonesia.

“Gusto rin niyang sumuko. [Ang] detail hindi ko masasabi,” David said in the interview.
When reporters asked David what prompted Wesley to consider surrendering, he replied, “Siyempre dumadating sa point ng isang tao na nadidiscourage ka, ‘di ba? Kasi, ‘yung mga kasama mo nandiyan na lahat. Human being that we are, dumarating ‘yung point ng kahinaan natin…. Which is actually ‘yun naman ang tamang gawin.”
David also said that Wesley no longer sees the point in hiding, “Di niya nakikita yung essence pa ng pagtatago.”
He also personally advised Wesley that there’s no need for him to hide because “he has not committed any wrongdoing.”
According to Stephen David, he has already reached out to certain government agencies to relay Wesley’s intentions of surrendering.

However, he believes Alice Guo or Guo Ha Ping cannot be a state witness. She lacks important details about illegal POGO operations since she was never involved.
David also said that their camp is ready to face all charges against the ex-mayor. Indonesian authorities also arrested Alice Guo’s siblings, Shiela and Cassandra Ong, at the end of August.
Senator Raffy Tulfo, chair of the Senate Committee on Public Services, stated that officials expect Alice Guo to return to the Philippines by Thursday evening.
