Kheene Salas Spills Why P Pop Groups Split

Former Ver5us member Kheene Salas shares his experience as a former K-Pop trainee and P-Pop idol and talks about why their quintet decided to disband in May earlier this year.

During Kheene’s time at RBW Entertainment, the agency was still starting. The company wasn’t as big as it is today. It stands for Rainbow Bridge World, which is a Korean agency. Salas and his co-members trained under the agency for a while.

He shared that his stay in Korea was tough. There, he really realized how different the training was from the Philippines. During this time, they lived in a dormitory provided by the company. He also shared that they covered their meals from Monday to Saturday. On the other hand, expenses on Sunday came from their own pockets.

The idol also mentioned his training schedule under the Korean entertainment company. He said they had busy days starting at 7 in the morning and ending at 6 in the evening. Salas also said that even if they had Sundays as rest days, they were too tired to explore the country.

He also talked about feeling very homesick during his trainee days. They all shared their excitement when they first reached Korea. However, many of them quickly missed home and their families.

“Iba po ‘yung feeling na kunyari pagod ka, uwi ka sa family mo. Kumbaga merong support system.”

Aside from training under RBW, Kheene Salas also auditioned for SM Entertainment. Popular groups under this agency include aespa, Riize, NCT, and EXO. To him, it didn’t matter if he made it through or not. What was important was he tried.

Kheene also appeared on several idol survival shows, including “Hello K Idol” and “Popinoy” on TV5. He and his Ver5us groupmates won the Popinoy competition.

When asked about their disbandment, Kheene shared that the group members had other responsibilities already. They also struggled to generate income as an idol group so they had to look for other jobs.

‘Yung final straw po siguro for our group is since parang graduate napo lahat. Halos po members ko po– si Gab, graduate UP. Ako po graduate na from Tourism. And may kanya-kanya na po kasi kaming problems. Hindi naman siya problems, responsibilities sa life namin na kailangan naming pillin for that time.”

However, the idol says that they are still open to the idea if they have offers. Check out Kheene Salas’ full podcast interview here:
