Jisoo of BLACKPINK is making waves with her lead single, earthquake, released on Valentine’s Day.
The track vividly portrays love as a powerful, overwhelming force that shakes the very core of one’s being. This is represented in the music video, which also features a cameo by Cha Seung Won, actor and the lead vocalist’s senior at YG Entertainment.
The song is part of the tracklist in her solo album, Amortage.
Prior to the release, the lead vocalist signed a deal with Warner Records–a big step in her music career.
The Flower singer first teased the album with an ECG graphic of a heartbeat.
Amortage is inspired by combining the words amor (love) and montage, which essentially means “moments of a love journey.” The songs of said EP include “earthquake,” “Your Love,” “TEARS,” and “Hugs&Kisses.”
The singer co-wrote all tracks with Jordan Roman and other collaborators. The mini album is produced by her label, Blissoo, and The Wavys.
With the other four members having released their own music, Jisoo is the final member of BLACKPINK to release her single.
This is also her first solo venture since her solo debut album, Me, in 2023. The aforementioned EP features singles Flower and All Eyes on Me.
This also marks Jisoo’s first solo project under the management of Blissoo, her agency for solo activities.
It can be recalled that all BLACKPINK members decided not to renew their individual contracts with YG Entertainment in 2023. However, they are signed together as a group.
Amortage came from the combination of the Spanish word amor, which translates to “love,” and montage, which means fragments of moments. The creative wordplay reflects Jisoo’s artistic vision for this album.
Yes, Jisoo will be holding fan meet events in Asia titled Lights, Love, Action. The event will take place in Manila, Bangkok, Tokyo, Macau, Taipei, Hong Kong, and Hanoi. The dates are yet to be announced.
