A year ago, Jimmy Butler rocked a dreadlock, but now he’s back with a new look that surprised the public after he stepped in for Media Day. Well, various reactions were ignited after his appearance with his so-called ‘emo hair.’ On top of that, Butler is also seen with piercings on his eye, lip, and nose paired with fingernails painted in black.
“I’m very emotional right now. This is my emo state and I like this. This is me,” Butler said. “This is how I’m feeling as of late.”
Miami teammates, however, were caught off guard after Jimmy Butler appeared with a new hairstyle. Bam Adebayo, Heat’s center, in particular, who hadn’t seen Butler before meeting with reporters — thought someone had photoshopped Butler’s look after his new hairdo popped up on the photos shown by the reporter.
“That is not real… That is (expletive) hilarious,” Adebayo said.
It seems that Jimmy Butler’s dreadlocks were short-lived. However, Butler seemed determined last season to allow the NBA to use his media day photos for promotional purposes.
On the other hand, Butler said that he is unsure when he’s going to rock this type of outfit, but he’s always open for a new look in the next season, leaving the door open for a wide array of fashion choices he can dabble in.
“I feel like I’m very emotional right now. This is my emo state, and I like this. This is me. This is how I’m feeling as of late.”
Asked if there was a specific reason behind the look, he said: “You never know how I’m going to wake up. This is how I feel today. We’ll see tomorrow. Tomorrow might be in all yellow.”
On a different note, Butler is still optimistic after talking about how he fell short in his last season’s NBA Finals.
“This is our year. This is the one. And this one’s going to feel real good, by the way.”
It’s always been about a championship to me,” he said. “It will always be about that.”
