The album features 11 tracks, with the members credited as lyricists for all songs, except “Lips,” which includes words from their labelmate, EXY of the girl group WJSN (Cosmic Girls). “I Am,” co-written by K-pop hitmaker Ryan S. Jhun, showcases the group’s strong vocal performances, with lyrics from popular lyricist Kim Eana.
The song “I AM” expresses the strong message of discovering a new “me” who is distinct from yesterday while embracing an independent approach toward life.
To accompany the release, the girls unveiled a music video for “I Am,” featuring the members donning mostly black and white outfits while performing the song in various settings, including an airstrip, airplane, limousine, and what appears to be a mansion.
Since its release, “#IVE_1ST_ALBUM_RELEASE” has been trending on Twitter Philippines, highlighting the group’s growing popularity among K-pop fans worldwide. The video has already amassed thousands of views on YouTube and other social media platforms.
The group’s 2022 single “Love Dive,” which topped the South Korean music charts and won Song of the Year honors at various year-end award ceremonies, helped it become more well-known.
In late March, IVE dropped a music video for “Kitsch,” offering fans a glimpse into “I’ve IVE.”
IVE’s comeback album is expected to solidify its position as one of the rising K-pop girl groups to watch in 2023. “I Am” sets the tone for what promises to be an exciting year for the six-member act. With their unique style, powerful vocals, and creative talents, the group is set to make a mark in the K-pop industry. – WhatALife!/Jayve
