K-pop girl group ITZY marked their 2000th day of being in the industry at their ‘Born To Be’ concert in SM Mall of Asia Arena, Manila, on Saturday, August 3. Near the end of the show, the girls and the audience watched a special fan video that looked back on the group’s humble beginnings and unforgettable moments as K-pop idols. Yuna, the group’s youngest member, even broke down into tears.

“In a blink of an eye, it’s already our day 2000,” she said as she wiped her tears. “We were rushing things but we’ve been doing a lot in 2000 days that we can’t even look back. I don’t have the actual moment to look back on those 2000 days as ITZY”.

“Nevertheless, I think the brightest smile I had was in front of MIDZYs,” Yuna emphasized, earning cheers from the crowd and nods from her fellow group members.

ITZY debuted on February 12, 2019, and consists of members Yeji, Yuna, Lia, Ryujin, and Chaeryeong. In 2023, one of ITZY’s rappers, Lia, took a hiatus due to health concerns, so she wasn’t able to attend last weekend’s concert.

The K-Pop idols filled the night with jaw-breaking performances, including their recent song, ‘Born To Be’ as the show opener. One of the show highlights was a dance break that led to the girls performing ‘Wannabe.’

The concert was a definite step up from their ‘Checkmate’ Tour, as the band accompanied the group’s setlist of 25 songs. ITZY said they helped arrange the tracks to make sure they were giving the MIDZYs their best energy.

“Looking at our world tour today, the difference with the first tour was we’re eager to perform the best way we can. But this time, you know I kinda have the comfort feeling to see each and every MIDZY’s face, and just have fun on stage,” Chaeryeong shared.

Later, Yeji asked the crowd what performance the MIDZYs would want to see from them, and the audience responded with BINI’s hit song, ‘Pantropiko.’ The girl group then proceeded to dance the song two times in a row while also hopping on the ‘Eyy’ trend of the nation’s girl group.

To wrap up the night, ITZY showered their fans with sweet messages.

“Tonight will be an unforgettable night for me. Manila MIDZYs never disappoint us,” Chaeryeong shared.

“We always look forward to you guys, you’re so enthusiastic. Next time we can come to the Philippines, we will practice and be much cooler so you can enjoy more with us,” Ryujin mentioned.

“Manila MIDZYs are the best. It’s not lying because you guys really had fun tonight. We will always be by your side with new good music,” Yeji said, with her last words seemingly teasing their upcoming comeback.

According to ABS-CBN News, ITZY is expected to return with their upcoming album later this year, with their main vocalist Lia.
