Since the recent February 24 holiday announcement, Filipinos are now asking if February 25, 2023 is still a holiday in the Philippines? Straight answer – NO.
In an official post by the Department of Labor and Employment on its Facebook page, it read: “Proclamation 167 just moved the special non-working day from 25 February 2023 to 24 February 2023. Hence, 24 February 2023 is now a special non-working day and 25 February 2023 is an ordinary working day.”
This means that, instead of a holiday, February 25, 2023 is a regular WORKING day in the Philippines.
In addition, the post also contains Labor Advisor No. 02, which states the Payment Wages for the Special (non-working) day on February 24.
“For work done during the special day, the employer shall pay the employee an additional 30% of the basic wage on the first eight hours of work (basic wage x 130%),” it read.
The post also clarifies that February 25, 2023 is still the EDSA People Power Revolution Anniversary.
