The Philippine official gazette has declared April 8, 2024, a special non-working holiday not in the whole Philippines, but exclusively in the Mountain Province.
This holiday, as per Proclamation No. 503, s. 2024, is only in the said city and is in line with the celebration of its Founding Anniversary.
Ultimately, the province’s Founding Anniversary is on April 7, which falls on a Sunday. With this, the Office of the Governor requested that April 8, Monday, be a holiday instead to enable the people of Mountain Province to fully participate in the occasion.
According to the proclamation signed by the President and Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, “it is but fitting and proper that the people of the Municipality of Dolores be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration.”
The declaration emphasizes that designating April 8 as an additional special non-working holiday aims to provide the people of Mountain Province with a full opportunity to partake in the celebration surrounding their Founding Anniversary.
